Zone Control Valve Signage

The control valve signs need to identify the portion of the building served.

Reflective sprinkler control valve sign with red background stands out from the wall for easy viewing from either side. Signal butterfly valve waterflow indicator pressure gauge and test drain valve. Zone valve with covers off may indicate overheating and jamming. Use indoors or out.

Section 6 11 3 has a requirement for signage for the fire department connections. Signs shall be located directly adjacent to the control valve and shall be either mounted on a sign post or affixed to the exterior of the building. When a post indicator valve piv is provided as part of the fire protection system signs shall be provided to indicate the riser and or zone controlled by the valve. Because of fire sprinkler or test valve activation the indicator detects water flow and transmits signal to control system. In our photo above that notch at the left end of the zone valve control lever will lock the valve in the open position. They are assembled on fire pipeline to separates the fire area into small distribution zone for indication and control.

Zone control valve is a combined unit of 4 parts. Systems that have more than one control valve that must be closed to work on a system or space are required to have a sign referring to the existence and location of the other valves. Zone valve with its manual lever left in the manual on position may indicate that the valve does not work this zone is forced into always on status.
