2x6 Bed Frame

Repeat these steps to make the other half of the bed frame.

Once they are in place screw them together. Add bed frame rail hardware. Next i placed the rail hardware at the mark and close to flush with the end of the board. 12 2x6 stud length may be able to use less lumber if can haul long lengths 10 2x4 10 feet long slats.

I used three 2x8 s one 2x6 one 2x10 and two 2x2 s. Rather i used spruce lumber normally used for framing. Layout the frame cross member so that you have one on each end of the frame sides. The image at left is a cross section of the bed illustrating this.

This hailey platform bed is inspired by a pottery barn bed that features wood slats for a headboard a wood frame and wood legs all 2x6 boards are used making this a quick project that will cost less than 50. It can be flush or about 1 16 of an inch in to help give a more snug fit. This grid of screws creates a lot of conflicting geometry that will prevent racking of the entire bed. The bed rails each have a 2x2 1 5 x1 5 attached to the bottom inside edge on which the slats supporting the mattress rest.

Most of that wood was 2x6 boards. This is because these h shaped frame styles are intended for use with a headboard and footboard. I found some super affordable bed frame rail hardware here. Two into the 2x4 side of the legs and six into the 2x6 side of the leg.
