02 Passat Will Lock Doors But Not Unlocking

When the other doors are unlocked the faulty door makes an unusual noise as if something is trying to move but can t.

My 2004 vw passat has an issue where the nearside rear door will not always open when the corresponding button is pressed on the car key. If this happens the problem is with the remote. This issue also indicates a bad lock actuator. So i went into the mfd and changed the default from unlocking only the driver s door to unlocking all the doors.

2 days later installed panel. The remote keys won t unlock the doors but will open the boot. Not really logical but thought worth the try. Door will not open.

The battery is likely dead and needs to be replaced but the remote s may also need to be reprogrammed to work. Not starting then bashing the lock unlock buttons a few times. Arriving at my destination the rear door would not open from the outside intermittently. Tested door 4 times locking and opening from inside and out.

I would have to use the remote or driver s door buttons to unlock the rear door. Ok everyone sort of a new issue. Passat remote key not unlocking car. Locks work from the switch but not the remote.

I left the inner door panel off so wife could drive it for a few days. Ordered an aftermarket lock assembly and replaced unit. Until 2 days later. 97 4 door passat centrail locking not working red light not flashing on drivers door.
